Evan

For those of you that might not know, Evan goes to preschool two days a week at St. Michael's. There is a large gathering area in between the preschool and the church. I went to pick Evan up from school on Tuesday and there was a funeral. I didn't think anything of it and went straight to Evan's classroom. After I got Evan we walked out of the classroom and straight ahead they were having a viewing (open casket) of the older man who had died. I was kind of hoping that Evan wouldn't notice. We really haven't had to deal with anything like that (thank god). Of course, Evan doesn't miss a thing. He walks closer to the casket and says in a loud voice, "Why is that man sleeping?" I explained that he was an older man and he had died. He continued to ask a ton of questions for the next 10 minutes. He is such a caring and sweet little guy. I could just tell he was very concerned. He told my dad today that the man who died at his school had a flag on his casket. I didn't even remember that until I heard him say it. He also asked me today if his Papa and Grandma were old. He is such a deep thinker (or traumatized). I'm sure he has been thinking about all of the details for the last few days.
