Poor Poor Syd!!

Sydney had her first and hopefully her last trip to the ER today. I had put her down for a nap in Evan's room and Evan's was having quiet time in our room (like I do everyday). I was talking to my mom on the phone when I heard Sydney start to scream. Evan yelled that Sydney was bleeding. I ran out of the den and saw Sydney standing at the top of the stairs covered in blood. She had a huge gash in her forehead. I have never seen anything like it. I won't go into to much detail, but it looked bad and I absolutely freaked out. I hung up on my mom and called Kyle and told him to get home right away. By the way I was acting Kyle thought someone had been run over by a car. I put pressure on it and carried her to get her shoes and coat on. While waiting for Kyle to get home, I called my mom back (because I had hung up on her in my panic). A lady at her work answered her phone and told me she was already on her way. What a great mom!! She didn't even know what happened, but she knew it was bad. Kyle came home and I left with Sydney. I called my friend who is a RN in the ER. There was an 1 1/2 wait, but we pulled right into the ambulance bay and she admitted Sydney right away. Syd was such a trooper. She laid perfectly still as the doctor did 12 stitches and stitches under stitches because it was so deep. The ER doctor said the gash was all the way to her skull. Kyle came to the ER as soon as my mom got to our house. I was so glad we were both able to be with her. She is such a brave little girl!! Mommy on the other hand was a complete wreck. I see trauma in the mouth and on the face all of the time , but I was standing in the corner ready to pass out. I started to sweat and I felt light headed. They hand to get me some juice. What a loser!! Anyway, Sydney is completely fine. We have to get her stitches out in 5 days. It doesn't seem to bother her at all. We will see how she does tonight since the numbness only lasts 8 hours. Oh, this happened because she was running and hit the corner of Evan's wood bed post.

Oh my goodness poor Sydney! I am glad your reaction was right--I mean you freaked for a reason! Jeez.

Funny about you almost passing out though. :o)

Hey that happened to me when I was little! Except I ran into a counter as I was leaving daycare. My mom couldn't hold my hand through the "deep" stitches they called them back then- she was in the corner like you(: I am going to give huge props for driving though- I don't even know if I would be able to have done that- poor thing.

Oh yikes! I am glad everything turned out okay. I can't believe you drove her yourself either - how did you do that?????
