First trip to the ER
After almost five years with children I made my first trip to the ER on Saturday evening. The kids were almost ready for bed, baths had been taken and everyone had their pj's on. Kyle and I decided to run to the bank to calm the kids down. Whenever our house gets crazy we like to load up the kids for a car ride. Anyway, when we got home my parents were here and they had Katie's dog. We were sitting outside talking and my Dad was holding the dog leash and Evan threw a ball and the dog went running. The leash pulled so hard it tripped Olivia and made her fly into the air and land on her forehead. I didn't see it happen, but I heard her head hit the cement. She was screaming and my mom was yelling "Oh my god, oh my god." I put some ice on her head and she calmed down. Her forehead was immediately purple with read dots and her eye started to swell. As she was sitting on my lap she sounded like she puked a little and then swallowed it. After a few minutes she did it again. I called the clinic and they thought I should bring her to the ER. I was so impressed with the ER. I have heard horror stories about 2-3 hour wait times. I walked right in and they checked her vitals and put us in a room. The Dr. came in and checked her over and decided against taking a scan of her head. Too much radiation as an infant may lead to leukemia. Christal if you're looking at doing some research you can check on that for me. They want to really limit the amount of radiation, which is understandable. Anyway, they sent us home with the instructions to wake her up a few times during the night. She is completely fine now. She still has the massive bruise on her forehead and a black eye. She might follow in Sydney's footsteps and always have a bruise on her head.

OH my god Kelly!! How awful & scary, I would have done the same thing. I am so glad that everything is okay, and that she's not going to be exposed to any radiation. :o) I know that these things happen, but it still breaks your heart. Hope she feels better soon.
And you guys are so cute loading up everyone in the car to calm them down. My kids are the opposite, it riles them up--and everywhere we go is at LEAST 30 minutes away.
